While KitKat already used sustainably sourced cocoa for products sold in certain markets, its pledge extended this practice throughout all global Nestlé factories.
Nestlé showed pride as the flag bearer for the industry, being the first global chocolate brand to pave the way towards a more sustainable industry.
Sandra Martinez, Head of Confectionery for Nestlé, said “Sustainable cocoa sourcing helps safeguard the livelihoods of farming communities and delivers higher quality cocoa beans. This announcement will only strengthen consumer trust in KitKat as a responsible brand.”
The Nestlé Cocoa Plan was established to improve the lives of cocoa farming communities as well as the quality of Nestlé’s cocoa products. This plan further shows KitKat’s dedication to changing the way people and businesses treat the environment, highlighting ways in which we can create great products and a better planet.
